I am looking for a few good people to post articles here on BestScienceFictionStories.com. I think my readers would appreciate some variety and different points of view, and I really could use some help, so if you would like to become a regular contributor or just contribute a single guest post then here is what I am looking for as well as some general guidelines.
Types Of Posts I Am Looking For
Here are the types of things I am always looking for:
- One time guest posts: Have you read a great SF story lately and want to let others know about it? Or maybe you want to write a guest post in order to get a link back to your site? Either way, I would be happy to publish your post and link to your web site in the author’s byline.
- Help with my reading list: I have a huge list of potentially good SF stories to read, the vast majority of which are both free and online. If you would like to help out by reading and reviewing one of these stories I would be grateful!
- Regular reviewers: Would you like to join the ranks of BestScienceFictionStories.com and review a science fiction short story on a regular basis? (Like every week or two) I would love to have your help – just contact me and let me know what you would be able to do.
And here are some other ideas that I would also be willing to accept:
- Reviews of books, ebooks, collections or anthologies containing science fiction short stories.
- Reviews of magazines or web sites that publish SF short stories.
- Interviews with science fiction short story authors.
- Announcements of your own science fiction short stories, with a short summary and where to find it.
- Any type of post that is related to SF short stories!
Guidelines For Posting on BestScienceFictionStories.com
General guidelines:
- I am only looking for posts that relate to SCIENCE FICTION SHORT STORIES! Not any other types of short stories, and not anything longer than a novella (40,000 words.)
- If you read a story and it sucks then I don’t want to hear about it! This site isn’t called “Mediocre Science Fiction Stories.” The name has a purpose – we want to point out good stories for people to read and enjoy.
- Your post must be original (i.e. not published before on the Internet.)
- You agree to not publish the post anywhere else.
Format guidelines:
- Give us a small summary of the story – but don’t spoil it!
- Tell us what you thought of the story.
- Let us know where to find the story. It does not have to be online or free, just let us know where we can go to read it.
- In general, people seem to skim articles and focus only on certain parts of it so break up your paragraphs with headings, add color, use emphasis and italics, you know – just have fun, be creative and make people want to read your post!
- You can include a short byline at the bottom of your post with one link in it.
Contacting me:
- You can use our Contact Us page (or my email address if you have it) to submit your post.
- Please contact me if you have any questions or want to discuss an idea.
What’s In It For You?
- Exposure for your site or story: This site currently gets 700+ visitors per day, and has over 400 regular readers, so you can use the byline to link to your site and get some traffic.
- I don’t pay for posts. Sorry, but I run this site because I love reading science fiction short stories – not to make money.
- I have been known to provide regular reviewers with gift certificates or free stories from time to time.
Examples
I have had several guest posts in the last few years, here are some good ones:
- Amaryllis by Carrie Vaughn
- Blood Child by Octavia E. Butler
- Crystal Nights by Greg Egan
- Snow, Glass, Apples by Neil Gaiman
- My Favorite Science Fiction Story: Jason Sanford
Thanks – I look forward to hearing from you!
