This is just a little post to let you all know that I am still around – even though my posting rate has gone down considerably this year. I’m still reading science fiction stories and will be writing reviews of them, but I’ve got a lot of other things going on in life right now so I won’t be posting too prolifically for a while!
Today I want to share with you 2 interesting news items that I received via email within the past few months.
1.) First, Nick Hesketh wrote to tell me about a free SciFi audiobook app he created:
“I’ve created a SciFi audiobook app (free) for the iPhone with 96 of the best quality sci fi stories from librivox.
I recently started listening to audiobooks from librivox, and found that the quality of the recordings and readers was very hit or miss, so I went through their catalog picking the best recordings, and made this app.
You can find the app at: http://appstore.com/nickhesketh/scifiaudiobooks“
That sounds really cool – so I’m hoping some of you will check it out and let us know what you think of it.
2.) A little over 4 years ago I read a cool story as part of the Million Writers Award: “On a Clear Day You Can See All the Way to Conspiracy” Well, the author has let me know that we can now enjoy a radio-show version of the same story:
“A few years back, you profiled my story “On a Clear Day You Can See All the Way to Conspiracy” on your site. Just in case whoever recommended it is still involved with the site, I thought I’d let you know that the Drabblecast podcast has recently performed the story as it was meant to be–as a full-cast presentation of an actual radio show. Go to http://www.drabblecast.org/2014/10/05/drabblecast-340-clear-day-can-see-way-conspiracy/ and scroll down to the bottom to listen to the podcast. If you enjoyed the story, you *must* hear this version.”
Okay, I hope you enjoy these special nuggets of science fiction goodness! I’ll be back shortly with some more story reviews!
Happy holidays everyone!
