Bizarrely Connected Stories: In which I find a strange theme connecting several previously reviewed short stories. Today’s feature: Four Science Fiction Stories Containing Ancient Alien Monuments!

Aah, the allure of finding some ancient edifice. Whether it be real life archaeologists in Egypt, or outlaw xeno-biologists at the edge of our galaxy, there is just something oh so romantic about huge, old monuments – especially if we can’t figure out who built them. Here is my list of 4 Science Fiction Stories Containing Ancient Alien Monuments:
- Beyond the Wall by Justin Stanchfield – a UN security team chases a pirate ship to the base of a controversial alien wall.
- The Ghost Pit by Stephen Baxter – a team of alien hunters crash land on a moon containing an impossibly long bridge.
- Melville on Iapetus by Jack McDevitt – a group of astronauts discover an ancient statue on one of Saturn’s moons.
- The Sentinel by Arthur C. Clarke – the classic story of an ancient monument discovered on the moon.
What other science fiction short stories have you read that contain ancient alien monuments?
