Get Short Stories from the Science Fiction Book Club

Posted by Rusty  Published in Miscellaneous

I’m constantly looking into ways of getting new science fiction short stories to read, so it was a nice surprise to come across several short story collections at the Science Fiction Book Club.

Yes, I’ve known about the SFBC for a long time, but I had never thought of using it to read high quality short stories by popular SciFi authors – until now.

SFBC Has Some Great Short Story Collections
Check out some of the excellent science fiction short story collections available on their website:

  • The Year’s Best Science Fiction, Twenty-Fifth Annual Collection edited by Gardner Dozois
  • Alien Crimes edited by Mike Resnick
  • The Android’s Dream by John Scalzi
  • Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman
  • The Sam Gunn Omnibus by Ben Bova
  • Year’s Best SF 13 edited by David G. Hartwell and Kathryn Cramer
  • The Jack Vance Treasury by Jack Vance
  • Best Short Novels: 2007 edited by Jonathan Strahan
  • Deathbird Stories by Harlan Ellison
  • The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury

Those are some excellent books filled with superb stories by famous science fiction authors. Right now SFBC has a great initial offer where you can get six books for $5 – so if you picked from the above list that would be hundreds of science fiction short stories for just a few bucks – not a bad deal.

Benefits of Joining SFBC
The Science Fiction Book ClubIf you love reading science fiction and you’re going to buy SciFi books anyway then I think you owe it to yourself to at least check out the Science Fiction Book Club. Yes, there are some things that aren’t so fun about book clubs – such as the requirement that you buy a few more books, and the fact that you have to pay extra for shipping & handling – but there are loads of benefits too. Check out these perks of belonging to the Science Fiction Book Club:

  • You can initially get five books for $1 each with a bonus sixth one free! There is no denying that this is a great deal!
  • They offer up to 65% off regular book selections each month – so you’ll get better prices even after the intial offer.
  • They have a nice selection of books, and not only science fiction – they also carry fantasy, horror and graphic novels. Why limit yourself to reading just one cool genre?

I am an affiliate for SFBC because they have a good program that I am willing to recommend. So if you are interested in getting loads of good books for a great price, or you just want to peruse their site, then click here to check out the The Science Fiction Book Club.
