I wanted to let you all know that I recently updated my site to use FeedBurner RSS.
What is FeedBurner you may ask? Well, it is just a website that helps me manage my RSS and email feeds.
What is RSS you say? Wow - it is a super cool and convenient way to be notified whenever your favorite web site (such as BestScienceFictionStories.com) is updated. It will notify your feedreader that a new article has been posted, and then give you link to it. Honestly, this is so much nicer than just bookmarking a page, because you don’t need to constantly check back to see if it has been updated. If you want to read a really good article about what RSS is then check out this page at ProBlogger.net.
I use My Yahoo to track the RSS of several websites, and it has made my life so much easier. There are lots of good feedreaders available besides Yahoo - Google has a great one, and there are feedreader websites such as Bloglines. If you use the FireFox web browser it has a cool “live bookmark” feature that uses RSS, and most email clients can also act as RSS readers as well.
Another benefit of my switching to FeedBurner is that if you don’t want to subscribe via RSS, but still want to be updated whenever I post new content you now have the option of subscribing via email. For each day that I post new content you’ll get an email notifying you to come check out my lovely website for more great science fiction goodness! Not bad eh?
If you have been subscribing to my old RSS feed you won’t need to re-subscribe to the new FeedBurner version - unless you use My Yahoo, that seems to be the only RSS reader that was having problems updating in a timely manner. All others should be good since I have re-directed the old RSS page to point to FeedBurner.
Oh yeah - and I wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate the fact that you read my web site! I absolutely enjoy reading science fiction short stories and telling you about them, so thanks for taking the time to read what I post.
